4. Google Ads Conversion-Tracking
Google Ads
The online advertising system Google Ads Conversion Tracking helps us to make visitors of external websites aware of our offer and to optimize our service by adapting it to their wishes and interests.
Google Ads (formerly Google AdWords) conversion tracking by Google Inc. or Google Ireland Limited consists of two components: Google Ads and conversion tracking. Google Ads are online advertisements to draw the attention of potential customers to our offers. The idea behind it is to place these advertisements intelligently and thus only refer people to our website who are also interested in it. Conversion tracking helps us with this, as it enables us to check the efficiency of our online marketing and thereby optimize it. To do this, this tool tells us the access statistics, such as which offers a visitor to our website has accessed and whether he or she has decided to book one of them. It allows us to tailor our offer to your searches and interests, as we can see which keywords and ads on our website you are responding to.
How does Tracking work?
But how does Google Ads Conversion Tracking work? It works by storing a “conversion” cookie from a Google domain on your device, or usually in your browser, when you click on one of our Google Ads ads. In this case, the cookie saves every action (“conversion”) that you carry out on our website. In plain language, this means that every time you perform an action on our website, Google recognizes it and saves it as a cookie. However, Google can only read these conversion cookies when you are on our website, unlike Google domain cookies.
The cookies are primarily used for statistical evaluations, such as the total number of visitors, locations, duration and time of access, click and navigation behavior, device data and IP addresses. Their storage usually expires within one to three months. However, this storage period and the use of your data is left to Google Inc. and it cannot be ruled out that Google will also process your data in third countries, such as the USA in particular. However, when managing your relevant data, Google is committed to the European data protection standard through so-called Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC), Article 46 (2) and (3) GDPR. These are based on a decision by the EU Commission, which provides them as templates, and are intended to ensure that the storage and processing of your data in third countries also comply with European data protection standards.
Which options do I have?
If you do not wish to participate in the optimization of our service through conversion tracking, you can block it at any time by disabling the relevant cookie in your browser or by setting your browser to ask your permission for each cookie.
If you agree to the use of Google Ads Conversion Tracking, your consent constitutes the legal basis for data processing. According to Article 6 Paragraph 1 lit. a GDPR (consent), you consent to the processing of personal data such as name and email address through Google Ads Conversion Tracking. With your consent, you also agree that we use Google Ads Conversion Tracking to use your data to optimize our online offering and marketing, in accordance with Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interests).
